Take a journey with me to 15+ years ago when I was finishing a degree in education. My son was playing video games in his room. I stopped to ask him if he had finished his homework. He told me he was learning leadership skills in the role playing game he was in, and had I read the literature. Just what every mother wants to hear back when your only question was did you do your homework. So I followed my son’s direction and went to the Business literature to find how those who were playing role playing games were learning. It was the very early days of research into how gaming was being used for learning. We have come a long way since then, and we know that tools such as games help the learner be immersed into what they are doing. At Acquire Skills and Knowledge Education , Inc we are using evidence that has been built over the last 30 years that online learning, and games do provide many opportunities for gaining knowledge and skills that a classroom does not. I believe we absolutely need the classroom and the teacher. The classroom environment provides socialization and human skills needed for the 21st century. We are building a platform to supplement those methods with educational content delivered in the form of games that immerse the learner and can be accessed 24/7.
We are a software company building educational tools for ages 4-18 with a vision of what education will be in the future. An education where everyone has potential to succeed because they are given ACCESS, appropriate level content, IMMERSION into a topic with a chance to practice and advance at a rate commensurate with their ABILITY and to be provided instant FEEDBACK on those successes and tips on how to improve.
There are 53 million learners in the United States in grades k-12 We will be selling subscriptions to individual families, public and private school systems. We plan to expand globally to US Protectorates, Canada, Mexico, Europe and further as our investments and sales allow. We plan to develop content in English, Spanish, French first with expansion.
We choose HEALTH as our first content for our platform because Health Literacy is less than 15% worldwide. If we do not educate our youth to be healthy and how to access Health Care, the Economy and Health of all nations is at risk.
You may be thinking to yourself that there are many tools out there for education. It has become more evident during this global pandemic that the right tools are NOT available. We are building the right tools. We are building tools for teachers, parents and learners where they can all come together in a community with a common goal and shared knowledge to help EVERY learner progress and SUCCEED in many areas of education.
Health is only the beginning.
We are different from other educational companies because the tools on this platform such as games immerse the student in the content, enable them to gain skills such as problem solving, creativity and to be accountable. These are 21st Century skills that are hard or next to impossible to assess in a classroom.
